NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY LONDON

You can book in for your newborn photoshoot from your 20-week scan, but if you have already had your baby please do get in touch, I keep spaces available for those mummies who prefer to wait until their little one is here. Newborn photography sessions are best within the first 5-14 days while your baby is still very sleepy! I would suggest booking 7 days after your due date and if baby is early or late we can rearrange as necessary. If you have already had your baby, do not worry, newborn sessions can be done up to around 6-8 weeks.

I am a South London newborn photographer but your newborn photography session can be held at your London home in South London, East London, West London or Central London. This is much more relaxing for you as you have all the things you need to hand and don’t have to organise yourself to leave the house in those first chaotic two weeks!  I will normally set up in your bedroom or spare room, throwing blankets over the bed to make a background and pose you for family photos against a blank wall. Hopefully there is enough natural light but if not I have a flash so no need to worry if your room is dark. And provided there is enough space for me to walk around the bed, no room is too small! 

Newborn photoshoots can take up to 3-4 hours. I only book one newborn photography session per day which gives you plenty of time to feed, cuddle and settle your baby. Newborn sessions aren’t timed and I won’t leave until I know I have captured all of the images you want! Clients always comment on how patient I am! I would normally book your session on a weekday, but if you have school age siblings I can do a weekend.

I will take a variety of photos – close ups, full body, little details such as hands and feet, with and without props and if your baby is awake and alert I will get a mix of sleeping and awake photos. If you have a newborn who is deeply asleep I will take some photos on their tummy, but be aware that not all babies like this. I will never put newborns into a pose that they are not comfortable in!

Older children and parents can be included in photos too. Sibling photos always end up being my favourites!

Newborns are mostly photographed in little shorts I bring, but if you want them clothed it’s best to dress them in a well-fitted white babygrow which doesn’t swamp them. I also bring along blankets and a few accessories such as wraps, hats, headbands and my favourite heart chalk board. I also love to use things which mean something to you, such as a blanket knitted by granny or baby’s favourite soft toy. But in general I keep my use of props to a minimum!

If you and your partner want to be in photos, it’s best to wear light, non-patterned clothes and make sure you are coordinated with each other. Similar tones work best especially for black and white photos.

Although I am a South London newborn photographer I also provide newborn photography sessions in Central London, West London and East London too. I will travel up to an hour within London and Surrey. Anything over an hour from Herne Hill (c10 miles) will incur an additional travel charge.

The newborn photography session fee must be paid at the time of booking. Payment for digital images, prints and products is due at the time of ordering. The Watch Me Grow Package is payable in two instalments before the newborn and sitter session.

After your session, I will provide around 20-30 images for you to view in a mix of colour and black and white. Viewings are either through an in-person ordering appointment or online gallery. I aim to get your images ready for you to view within one week of the shoot.

Orders must be made either on the day of the ordering appointment or within one week of your gallery being posted. I sell digital images, prints, albums and wall art products. 

Digital images will be professionally retouched with blemishes, scratches, dribble etc removed. High resolution images with full printing rights will be supplied either via We Transfer download or on a USB.
