Child Photographer London: older children/ teen sessions

As a professional baby and child photographer in London, I do a lot of photography sessions with babies and younger children, which I absolutely love! However I tend to photograph older children a lot less as parents are more confident taking photos themselves with their smartphones and they also have professional school photos taken each year. When I get the opportunity I do love taking photos of older children though, as they take direction really well and I can be super creative! I also don’t need to do as much skin editing as I do with babies.

Child photography sessions for 10-16 year olds can be either indoors at your home or in one of your local parks around London or even on a walk along the river. The photos of the children below were all taken outdoors during the summer months. Autumn as the sun is going down is also a fantastic time for photos, just with less guarantee on the weather!

Child photography sessions can either be done on their own, as part of a family session or as a birthday party with your child and a few of their friends. In this case I can capture individual photos of all the children and a group one for them to remember their high school friendships forever. I can also take photos of your children in their prom outfits.

Styling and colours are an important part of a professional photography session with an older child. With babies and families I always ask that the family dress in light-mid neutral tones. With children bright colours do really make the photos pop. I would still avoid patterns though as they are very distracting. I love the styling of Lily below! I always suggest H&M and Zara Kids as great places for my clients to get outfits from.

Which one is your favourite photo? Mine is the third one. I love the cool effect you get by the lens distortion when taking a photo from underneath.
